Dr. Dubravec |

Dr. Dubravec grew up in Herscher, IL along with his five brothers and one sister. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a Bachelors degree in biology. He then went on to Loyola School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. From there he was awarded a National Institute of Health scholarship to attend Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Surgery. He completed a fellowship in Surgical Immunology at Harvard Medical School and received a Master of Medical Science degree from the Medical School as well. He completed his residency in periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Surgery. This program focused on the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease, all aspects of oral and plastic surgery as well as intense training in implants. After graduation he was recruited by the University of Chicago for a teaching position in the Department of Surgery. After teaching and practicing at the University he purchased his current practice in Kankakee. He began practicing in Kankakee in 1990 and left his position at the University in order to give his full attention to his private practice. Dr. Dubravec is currently on staff at Riverside Medical Center and is active in the local Dental Society. He has served as president of the Illinois Society of Periodontists and as President of the Kankakee District Dental Society as well. He is also a member of the Kankakee District, The South Suburban Branch of the Chicago Dental Society, the Dental Society and a number of other professional organizations. Dr. Dubravec was recently awarded the Partners in Clinical Research Grant by the American Academy of Periodontology. He is currently working with researchers from a number of Universities including the University of Texas, University of Bern, Switzerland, London England, and Florence Italy. The research involves the critical evaluation of bone regeneration. Dr. Dubravec met his wife Alicia while in high school. They have three boys and one daughter and now live in Bourbonnias. The family shares such hobbies as fishing, hunting, snow and water skiing, biking, hiking and roller blading. |
